I'm doing it. At last. Coming out from behind the pseudonym to use my name in this new world of the blogosphere. Some fellow bloggers may have noticed that I've been using name not alias in comments for a while. Inspired by Sally. Ruth, Whitney, Andy and others I figure it's not too scary to be myself. So goodbye EmJayDee. Mavis is here.

Hi, Mavis. Nice to make your acquaintance formally.
Welcome Mavis. I use my real names but not my last name. Don't want people looking up my professional persona on the web to find my personal blogs instead.
Well done, Mavis. It's often a difficult decision to make. Like Joan, I use my real first name only on my blog, and for the same reasons.
G'day, Mavis. And best of luck in that bizarre universe, the blogosphere.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Good point about the last name. I did think about students finding my blog - especially with a relatively unusual name - but nothing there I wouldn't want them to read and I'll need to keep it that way.
Well, it's good to know you in whatever guise you appear !
Hi, Mavis. I love that name. You are the second Mavis I get to know. The first is a beautiful, wise and witty woman who is 95!
