Church and State

Just six hours ago ABC Radio reported that Fiji's military and police have cancelled the annual conference of the Methodist Church in August.

Fiji Live reports they issued a joint statement on the matter saying they hope church leaders will accept the decision. A police spokeswoman is quoted saying the move followed information that what she called, inciteful issues would be discussed.

The Methodist Church is the predominant denomination of Fiji's indigenous people.

Lord have mercy!
